Announcement: The Reading Women Challenge 2021

Happy Friday, happy weekend and WOW! We are already 15 days into the New Year and I have no clue how this has happened! It seems like yesterday when I was stringing up the Christmas lights and singing along off-tune to my Spotify Christmas Playlist 😀

Come the New Year, there has been a flurry of activity in the book blogger universe with Reading Goals, Intentions and Challenges and frankly, I am impressed with the number of really amazing reading challenges that have been announced here in the past couple of weeks, most of which I wasn’t even aware of until now.

Having never done a Reading Challenge before, I thought it would be a great idea to do one this year mainly as a way to clear out my backlisted books but also to get out of the rut of reading hyped up bestsellers.

And so without further ado, I am excited to announce my participation in the Reading Women Challenge 2021.

The Reading Women Challenge is an initiative by the amazing team at Reading Women, who started this back in 2018 in an attempt to ‘reclaim the bookshelf’ and ‘read the world‘.

In a nutshell, with 24 different prompts this year, we will be aiming to read international authors (from countries other than your own). No pressure to complete all 24 prompts, just as many as you can. The full list of prompts is at the end of this post.

I am honestly so excited, and also a little bit nervous, as some of the prompts are pretty challenging, but I am really looking forward to be pushed out of my comfort zone and meet some new authors this year.

If you are looking to join this challenge, it’s very simple really 🙂 Check out the Reading Women website here for full details, and if you are on socials, then update your progress using #ReadingWomenChallenge.

There is a lively discussion board on Goodreads here for book inspirations under each of the prompt.

End of January, I will be introducing a new section to my blog where I will be updating my monthly progress on this challenge with a brief on what book(s) I read and my thoughts.

For those of you who follow me on my Instagram, look out for monthly posts, with little snippets in my stories (posted more regularly).

I will be very keen to connect with those who are doing / planning on doing this challenge this year especially for Buddy Reads or Bookish Discussions, so feel free to email me on rucha@betweenpages.me or DM me on my Instagram with Reading Women Challenge 2021 in the subject line.

Happy Reading!
