It had to get to mid-April for me to realise I still haven’t done a post on my reading intentions for this year. I also haven’t done any wrap posts for last year but we’ll ignore that for now. After the blur that was the final few months of 2021, this year so far has been about really slowing down.
To begin with, I went to Mumbai for an entire month. It was every kind of lovely and I thoroughly enjoyed being coddled. The sun-soaked days were exactly what my vitamin D starved self had craved and needless to say I had little intention of coming back. But life needs to get real because too much of anything is a bad thing.
Life at the moment seems all kinds of exciting, mainly because the sun is shining and I am in one of my best reading phases of all time. I have read a sum total of FIVE books so far (I know right?!). Three of which were read in the month that I spent (i.e. holiday-ed) in Mumbai.
If it isn’t clear by now, then yes, I am reading very slowly this year. In fact, I decided to cut down my reading goals to about half and I plan on reading just about 2 dozen books this year. What’s further exciting is that I will not be beating myself up about not hitting my reading goals.(Goodreads Reading Challenge can try but I won’t be defeated! )
The decision was spurred on mainly by a desire to move away from blindly following bookstagram fads, giving in to FOMO and wanting to focus on mindful reading. Also, I am picking up books that I really feel like reading in the moment. And my happy, balanced state of mind is making me choose some very engaging reads. Four months in, I am happy to report that it’s been going rather well.
There are a few more reading intentions, but I shall spare you the drivel and list them in a more concise manner 🙂
Now, what books would you recommend? 🙂
